BOSTON - November 20, 2009 - Vantage Partners and The Outsourcing Institute announced the winners of the 2009 Outsourcing Relationship Management Awards -- the RMMYs. Several leading outsourcing providers applied for the awards, the first ever program specifically to recognize the investment by service providers in the management of outsourcing relationships.  Seven winners were selected:

  • Intelligroup was selected as the winner of “The Few, the Proud, the RMs” award for Best Enabled Relationship/Account Managers
  • Wipro was awarded the “You Expect What You Inspect” award for Best Performance Management Process
  • Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) was awarded the “Ain't No Valley of Despair Here” award for Best Transition Process
  • CenterBeam was selected as the winner of the “For Better or For Worse” award for Most Innovative Relationship Management Practice in a Downturn
  • Infosys and BT Openreach were selected as the winners of the “Dynamic Duo” award for Best Partnership
  • Infosys was awarded “Best in Show” – the Best Overall Relationship Management Capability for the second year in a row!

Vantage Partners and the Outsourcing Institute established the RMMY Awards in 2008 to broaden the dialogue about the importance of relationship management in achieving value, and to raise the bar for the industry.  “Effective governance and relationship management continue to be what sets apart the outsourcing deals that deliver the greatest value from those that fail,” said Danny Ertel, a founding partner of Vantage Partners.  “The RMMYs shine a much-needed spotlight on those providers that have gone beyond 'talking the talk' to actually investing in developing the skills, processes, tools, and metrics to manage relationships effectively.”

A panel of distinguished judges reviewed the applications:

  • Verity Billson, Senior Manager, Vendor Management Collections, Capital One
  • Rene Herlaar, Network Transformation Program Manager Central Region Networks at Vodafone
  • Vaughn Hovey, Former Manager, Corporate Sourcing, Eastman Kodak; now lecturer at The Ohio State University Fisher School of Business
  • Donald Mones, VP Outsourcing Strategy & Planning, The McGraw Hill Companies
  • Joe VanLoy, Client Executive, EquaTerra

Frank Casale, CEO of the Outsourcing Institute, noted, “When it comes to relationship management, it ‘takes two to tango’ – the way buyers manage the relationship matters as much as the way providers do.  But providers, as professional service organizations serving multiple customers, are in a unique position to lead the way.”

Winners will be formally honored at an award ceremony as part of the Outsourcing Institute’s “Outsourcing 2.0 Roadshow” on December 3, 2009, at the New York offices of Morrison & Foerster.  They will also be promoted at “Outsouring 2.0 Roadshow” events throughout 2010, and be showcased on www.outsourcing.com.
